This project investigates circular textile practices and is based on a research conducted by Mirella Soyer. On average, a person owns approximately 136 garments. Of these, around 30% have their labels removed, amounting to 41 discarded labels per wardrobe.
Despite containing valuable information about material composition and garment care, these labels are often seen as irritating or unnecessary and are cut off. The 2CLOSET Stool responds to this overlooked aspect of textile waste. The cushion is constructed from 82 repurposed labels, the equivalent of labels discarded from two average wardrobes. While a single label may seem insignificant, collectively they represent a material resource that can be reclaimed and revalued.
